Cadillac Warranty Coverage
Cadillac offers first-rate warranties to match the celebrated manufacturer’s premium automobiles. Cadillac offers base and extended warranties so you can be sure your four-wheeled beauty is up to the task of providing a superior driving experience.
Cadillac Base Warranty
Cadillac’s base warranty, commonly called the Bumper-to-Bumper Limited Warranty, backs the entirety of your new automobile for four years or 50,000 miles. All parts and labor are covered in this no-deductible warranty. The company’s powertrain limited warranty, also part of the Cadillac base warranty, runs for six years or 70,000 miles, with no deductible. This warranty covers defects in material and/or workmanship of Cadillac engines, transmissions and drive systems.
It’s good to know that Cadillac base and extended warranties are fully transferable if you decide to sell your vehicle. If you sell your Cadillac, any remaining warranty coverage may be transferred to the new owner. Within 30 days of the ownership transfer, you must send the completed transfer request. Fees may apply for the transfer to be completed.
It’s important to highlight that neither the Cadillac bumper-to-bumper manufacturer’s warranty nor the Cadillac extended limited warranty calls for a deductible, unlike some other manufacturer warranties. Your vehicle will be covered for repairs, including parts and labor, to correct any defects or workmanship. This warranty excludes routine maintenance, however. All repairs will be performed using new, remanufactured or refurbished parts.
Cadillac Extended Warranty
Cadillac extended warranties include the Platinum or the Silver Protection Plans. The Platinum plan is the most comprehensive of the two plans. There are also deductible levels that you can choose from. The levels range from $0 to $100, with a disappearing deductible. The disappearing deductible gives you the ability to waive the $100 deductible when you return to the dealership where you bought the warranty. If you go to another dealership for a covered repair, you will need to pay the $100 deductible. Buying an extended warranty is insurance for your vehicle in case components need to be repaired. By having an extended warranty, you won’t have to worry about unforeseen expenses.
The Cadillac Platinum Protection Plan is very comprehensive, spanning 1,000-plus components. It covers the engine, transmission, drive axle, turbocharger/supercharger, transfer case, steering, electrical parts, airbags/safety restraint system, brakes (including ABS components), air conditioning system, seals and gaskets, adaptive cruise control, ride control suspension, heated seats, blind-spot sensors, video display screen, reverse warning systems/sensors, factory-installed entertainment system, emergency trunk release, power tailgate lock, automatic climate control programmer and Cadillac User Experience (programming and updates not included). This Cadillac extended warranty does not cover the battery and battery cable/harness; lenses, sealed beams and light bulbs; key fobs and tire-pressure sensors; brake rotors and drums; all exhaust components; trim items; tires and wheels/rims; maintenance services; and some emission components.
Cadillac extended warranties come with towing and road service, covering charges as much as $150 per occurrence. Additionally, if your Cadillac breaks down more than 100 miles from your home and a repair facility needs to keep your automobile overnight, the service contract will reimburse you as much as $200 a day and, per occurrence, as much as $800.
Rental car coverage, with reimbursements of as much as $40 per day ($280 maximum per incident), is also part of the warranty. This coverage also includes reimbursement for alternative public transportation expenses. Finally, If you misplace your Cadillac keys or accidentally lock in your vehicle, the warranty will reimburse you for as much as $35 in locksmith service expenses.
Estimated Cadillac Extended Warranty Values
Every motorist sailing a Cadillac down streets has a different driving experience and different road conditions and climate, so it’s unfair to proclaim that a Cadillac extended warranty is worth a specific amount of money. This said, Cadillac’s website reports some key vehicle repair costs, with a new engine running $6,952 and transmission fetching $3,622. A fuel pump goes for $972, with an alternator costing $722. An air-conditioning system and water pump each cost $600. A power-window motor costs $390.
As you can see, costs can add up quickly if your vehicle isn’t performing well because of wear and tear and other issues. For this reason, many Cadillac owners choose to invest in extended warranties to extend the value of their vehicle investments and to help remove any sting associated with common repairs.
Is it Better to Pay out of Pocket?
When you buy a Cadillac, you are buying one of the first automobile brands in the world. It was founded by the Henry Ford Company and later bought by General Motors. So what does this history have to do with why you may or may not want an extended warranty? It’s because you are buying a quality vehicle. Cadillac has had a lot of time to perfect its vehicle-making skills. With this being said, when things do go wrong, as they can with any make of vehicle, a Cadillac extended warranty is going to help you keep your elite vehicle running the way it was intended to.
Cadillacs continue to be held in high esteem by the general public to this day. There have even been songs written about Cadillacs. So why not take the best care of your Cadillac as you possibly can? An extended warranty can help you do just this. Some studies have shown that vehicle owners with extended warranties take better care of their automobiles as they age. For this reason alone, an extended warranty should be considered for a Cadillac.
Another big reason to buy a Cadillac extended warranty is that parts and labor do not come by cheap with a Cadillac. This manufacturer doesn’t make cheap vehicles. For this reason, you may not want a big bill coming in when something needs to be fixed on your Cadillac. A Cadillac extended warranty will cover what needs to be fixed without your having to shell out big bucks.
